This charming bust of a small girl with braids was done in France in 1744 by Jacques Saly. It is one of the most often reproduced sculptures from the 18th century. Saly was sent to Paris at age 15 to train with Giullaume Coustou. Because of his great talent, he became one of the first French members of the Academia degli Arcadi in Rome, 1744 and later the Academia di Belli Arti in Bologna.
